What is the approximate age range of the members in the orchestras?
NMO (Youth) 15 - 23 years old
NMO (Young Professionals) 23 - 45 years old

I can't attend every practice...is that okay?
Yes, though we all know that practicing together each week is always the best we know that there may be situations that arise that prevents one from attending! Absences are okay as long as they are not chronic.

Can I suggest music for the group to play?
Of course! We welcome all suggestions!

What kind of music do you play?
All kinds - classical, pop, movie, cultural...

What kind of instrumentation do the orchestras have?
NMO (Youth) currently is a String orchestra with one flute, clarinet, trombone, alto saxophone and piano. We are looking for bassists and cellists.
NMO (Young Professionals) currently is a String orchestra.

If I want to join, do I just show up?
Please email Christina to make arrangements.

What kind of skill level do I have to have?
It is recommended that you can play at a Conservatory grade 6 level or higher. It is not required for you to have completed an exam or anything; you just have to be able to play music and technique at that level and higher. There is no audition required to play in either NMO orchestras.

What do I have to bring to rehearsal?
Your own instrument, a music stand, binder/folder to hold your music

What kind of funding does NMO receive?
Currently, NMO operates from its membership fees, however it became a non-profit society in January 2010 with goals of working a casino in a couple years.
